What to do if your guy didn't win the election
Updated: Nov 30, 2020
Tonight Joe Biden claimed victory in the 2020 presidential election. Of course there is still a lot to come from various legal battles, so the outcome might not be certain, but I wanted to offer up some words if it is.

First, some words on Trump.
President Trump was not perfect. That needs to be realized. We've spent a lot of time on the podcast calling him out when he would do things outside of the constitution, and we've spent a lot of times calling out the media and the Democrats for their continued blatant lies about him. We did both at the same time because our allegiance is not with Trump, it's with the Constitution, and above all else it's with Liberty.
I have to be honest- I've never seen a president go through what Trump has gone through over the last 4 years. Even if it does turn out to be a loss, there's something to be said for withstanding the onslaught of negative press, lies, and world events he had to wade through.
This man dealt with the most blatantly dishonest media I've ever seen. He went through a once in a lifetime viral outbreak. He went through an impeachment, and a Russia scandal that had little to no actual evidence of being true. He went through racial tension that we haven't seen in decades. Even after all that, he still received more votes in his re-election bid than he received in his first go-round. In that regard, I say he deserves some congratulations. Almost everyone with power was acting against him, and in my experience, that's the person that is doing some things right.
Over the next 4 years, we're going to see continued attacks on our institutions, and quite possibly a continued attack on free speech, conservative media outlets, entrepreneurship, and who knows what else..
What's most likely to happen from the “right” is that the "Tea Party" spirit will once again grow. Just be ready for the rebuke to your TP efforts. Here's what will be said- "Well, when Trump was President you didn't care about executive authority. You didn't care about the deficit, or the Debt.. You didn't care about Executive orders, etc."
I want you to know that the above statement will be absolutely true. We've seen a complete erosion of conservatism while Trump was president. Limited Government and free markets have been on the backburner. This will leave you (as I'm fond of saying on the podcast) with no principled legs to stand on.
Here's my ask: Stand on them anyway. Regain your limited government principles, and this time, stick to them. Remember that your guy will not always be in power, and you weren't just giving power to Trump(whom you trusted with it), you were giving it to Joe Biden, and maybe even Kamala Harris.
It also needs to be realized that we will spend our lives going between Republican and Democratic Presidents, and everyone needs to know how to handle that simple fact of life.
Rarely is this actually the end of the world. We are lucky to live in a country that has frequent elections. This country was designed to exist in gridlock. The founding fathers knew that gridlock in Washington was a good thing. Biden will come and go, and then we will be on to the next person. Who will that person be? We don't know. That's why we must never relinquish power to the Federal Government.
If your life is going to be severely affected by the person in the Oval office, then I argue that you've done something wrong. You didn't make yourself secure enough even though you knew that it was foolish to depend on the Federal Government for your future. Start building a life outside of the actions of the Government.
Do you know who isn't worried about who won this election? Bezos, Gates, Cook, Zuck, or any number of wealthy individuals that are so far up the economic ladder that any % of taxes would be inconsequential to their daily lives. Work on getting there. Am I there? No. Is that my goal? Yes.
I know, I know. It will be harder to get there with Liberal policies coming from Washington, but that's part of it. None of the people on my above list made it up the ladder while only Republicans were in office. They withstood all administrations. The succeeded through all administrations. The founders would be ashamed to see this much focus placed on the presidential election. If they knew this was happening, they would feel as though they had failed. Do you think the founders failed? I don't either. I think the America. people have failed the founders.
My main message to constitution loving Americans is to make Thomas Jefferson proud and stop paying attention to this mess. Vote your principles, always. Get active in your local elections. Local governments are the last line of defense against the tyrants in Washington, and most of us have been completely ignoring our local elections.
If your guys loses, take the loss with grace. Be the example you want to set for your children, and the example you want to set for the other side when they inevitably lose the next election.
Take the loss, work on your own life in the best way you can, and stop letting them control you. We’ve got a lot of work to do, but I know we are all up to the task.
